About
Hi — I'm James.
I run StitcherFix out of Lake Stevens, Washington, where I service home sewing machines for sewists across the greater Seattle area.
A working sewing machine should be the easiest part of your project — not the part you fight with. My job is to make that true again.
A bit of background
I came to sewing machine repair the way most good technicians do — slowly, by being curious about how mechanical things work and being willing to take them apart and put them back together. After enough of that, I formalized what I'd learned by training with Sewing Doc Academy and earning their Apprentice Technician certification.
What I love about this work is that most of what makes a sewing machine misbehave is fixable, often without expensive parts. A careful clean, the right lubricant in the right places, and a few mechanical adjustments turn a frustrating machine back into a reliable one.
I'm an apprentice — which means I focus on the kinds of services I can do excellently rather than promising more than I can deliver. That's why StitcherFix offers one well-defined standard service at a flat, affordable price. If your machine needs something outside that scope, I'll tell you up front and point you in the right direction.
